Bell Tower This towering glass spire, located where Perth meets the Swan River, has now become a touchstone for
Australian and international tourists. It is the Swan Bells Tower, one of the largest musical instruments on earth, housing the twelve bells of Saint
Martin in the Fields church, the parish church of Buckingham Palace.
Swan River The Swan is a generous, gentle river right at Perth's doorstep. It was named in 1797 by the Dutch explorer
Willem de Vlamingh who was impressed by the many black swans which he observed upon its waters. The banks of the Swan were the site for Stirling's
settlement.
Rottnest Just offshore from Perth, Rottnest Island is where the locals go to swim at
white-sand beaches, snorkel in turquoise water over shipwrecks, or kick back and go fishing. Rotto, as it's called locally, is a car-free zone,
which adds to its relaxed feel. With 63 sheltered beaches to choose from, Rotto is refreshingly uncrowded. Surrounded by coral reefs and shipwrecks,
the diving and snorkelling is out-of-this-world.
